Stephen Higgins 27, part of the Irish Guard, who recently paraded in front of Prince William, Stephen who has just returned from his second tour of Afghanistan, was shot several times in the legs after being chased down the road. The horrific incident happened after a row in The Lord Nelson Pub, Bolton Road, Salford.
Witness’s saw the gun man run from the scene on Bolton Road were he left Stephen to his fate, Stephen was later rushed to Hope Hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.
The shooting happened at 10PM Saturday night in a alley way just behind Netto store just off Bolton Road
Last night police were still hunting the gunman. Detective Chief Inspector Bill McGreavy, from Salford CID, said: "I want to reassure people in Salford that we are treating this incident very seriously. We have a team of detectives investigating and we are doing all we can to find out who is responsible.
"We would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the Bolton Road area at just after 10pm and may have witnessed this crime or seen or heard something out of the ordinary last night.
"Please get in touch with us as your information could be vital to our investigation. Your call will be treated in confidence."
The Family of Stephen are at this stage to upset to comment
Salford British National Party would like to wish Stephen a speedy recovery, and say to the family if there is any thing they need just get in contact, Its in all our nature to protect our troops and look after there family’s.
